Would You?
By Nabeela Kapari
If I gave you my heart again,
Would you break it once more
Would you make another promise in vain
And go back on the things you swore?
Would you stitch up all the fragments
With your diseased needle thread
Then watch your venom run rampant
And leave me again for dead?
Would your lingering lips behind my ear
Hide your fanged kiss of death?
Your poison courses my veins, pain then sears
My tender heart freezes, and I am robbed of breath.
I could give it to you a thousand times
And you would destroy it still once more
You kill me again, then breathe me to life
But I know, you’re my only cure.
